Catholic hatred of Anne through the centuries demonises (accurately) her for England’s break with Rome and the growth of Protestantism in the country. This woman-out-of-time should be admired and revered by all reformers. What emerges before us now is an Anne Boleyn who was fiercely independent fiercely ambitious and terribly betrayed. Thanks to the work of historians such as Eric Ives, playwrights such as Howard Brenton, and her portrayal by Natalie Dormer in (2007- 2010) The Tudors’, the former Queen of England is undergoing a PR makeover. But over the years a new Anne Boleyn is gaining influence in the public mind. she is known, Sadly, for her tragic fall from power and the false charges levelled against her. Few historical figures have been as misunderstood or maligned as Anne Boleyn.
